Ixigo Expands European Presence with Strategic Acquisition of Trenes
Ixigo has approved the acquisition of a 60% stake in Spain's Trenes, marking its first major international expansion. The deal aims to combine Trenes' strong brand with Ixigo's AI-driven innovations, enhancing customer experience and unlocking growth opportunities in Europe's competitive rail travel market.

Ixigo has made its first international move by acquiring a majority 60% stake in Online Travel Solutions, Spain’s second-largest train booking platform. The acquisition, valued at 11.70 million euros, marks Ixigo's strategic entry into the European rail travel sector, setting a new benchmark in international expansion.
The company plans to leverage Trenes' established customer base and strong local integrations, enhancing them with Ixigo's AI-led product innovations. This alignment is expected to improve customer experiences and accelerate growth opportunities throughout Europe.
Besides acquiring Trenes, Ixigo will also purchase a 45.02% stake in technology solutions company Squad As Service, S.L., further cementing its commitment to innovation in travel and technology. Both acquisitions, finalized after regulatory approvals, incorporate non-compete arrangements and aim to strengthen Ixigo's competitive edge in the European market.
