Delhi is set to relaunch its iconic double-decker buses, offering tourists a unique way to explore the capital's historical and cultural sites. The initiative, announced by Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, aims to enhance the sightseeing experience with routes connecting key attractions like the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya and the National War Memorial.
The service, featuring two electric double-decker buses manufactured by Ashok Leyland, is scheduled to launch around February 20, marking the one-year anniversary of the current government. Funded through a corporate social responsibility initiative, these buses promise a smooth journey through Lutyens' Delhi, free from issues like low trees or overhead wires.
The initiative is designed for both domestic and foreign tourists, with a fixed fare structure and guided tours highlighting each location's significance. The buses can accommodate over 63 passengers, providing an extensive tour of attractions including Bharat Mandapam and Dilli Haat.
