Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar has publicly criticized the AAP and Congress for what he describes as their economic misjudgments concerning the Union Budget 2026-27. Jakhar asserted that the Budget is driven by the egalitarian ideals of Guru Ravidas, setting a concrete path toward a developed India.
He emphasized that cities in Punjab, including Jalandhar, Amritsar, and Ludhiana, stand to gain significantly from this Budget, criticizing Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for allegedly delivering incorrect criticisms about the allocations. Jakhar claimed that Mann has not appropriately engaged with the central government about Punjab's specific needs.
The BJP leader noted that the Budget provides ample opportunities for Punjab, especially in agriculture and industry, such as funds for crop diversification and support for MSMEs and the sports sector. Jakhar urged efficient use of these resources and suggested the Punjab government should push for developments like textile parks and women's hostels.
