On Tuesday, U.S. military forces took decisive action by seizing a seventh oil tanker linked to Venezuela's oil trade amidst existing sanctions. This operation underscores the Trump administration's aggressive stance in controlling the South American nation's oil resources.
According to the U.S. Southern Command, the Liberian-flagged Motor Vessel Sagitta, previously last seen in the Baltic Sea, was apprehended without incident. The vessel, managed by a Hong Kong-based company, allegedly operated in defiance of President Trump's imposed sanctions.
The seizure is part of a strategy under President Trump to manage and invest in Venezuela's oil industry, deeply impacted following the 2022 sanctions linked to Russia's actions, aiming to rejuvenate its economy through controlled oil sales.
