A daring attempt to board a ship off the coast of Mogadishu, Somalia was foiled as the vessel managed to evade four unauthorised individuals, according to a statement from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) on Monday.
Reassuringly, the crew aboard the ship was reported safe, continuing their journey to the next port of call. Authorities are already investigating the matter to prevent further incidents in this high-risk maritime zone.
UKMTO has issued advisories urging other vessels transiting the region to exercise heightened caution, underscoring the continuing threat of piracy in these waters.
