A tragic accident unfolded in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district on Monday when a tipper lorry carrying gravel collided head-on with a public transport bus, resulting in 19 fatalities, police reported. Among the dead were ten women and the bus driver.
The collision, occurring near Chevella, caused the gravel to spill onto the bus, trapping several passengers inside. Relief efforts were quickly undertaken using earthmovers to extricate those trapped.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and announced compensation for the victims' families. Meanwhile, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed immediate relief measures and advanced treatment for the injured.
