NTSB Urgent Call: Ensuring Landing Gear Safety on Bombardier Learjets

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on Wednesday released an urgent recommendation aimed at operators of 10 Bombardier Learjet airplane models. The call to action focuses on ensuring main landing gears are properly attached.

This recommendation extends to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), suggesting mandatory compliance with manufacturer service bulletins concerning landing gear. Covering 1,883 airplanes currently in service, this urgent plea was prompted by a tragic runway incident that occurred on February 10 in Scottsdale, Arizona, involving a Learjet 35A.

The incident spotlighted previous events where Learjet landing gears disconnected from the aircraft due to unengaged retaining bolts, underscoring critical safety concerns that need immediate attention.
