In anticipation of the Chhath Puja celebrations, the East Central Railway (ECR) zone, based in Hajipur, has ramped up its operations to manage the surge of passengers expected to travel during this period. ECR General Manager Chhatrasal Singh highlighted the railways' commitment to smooth travel and safety for all commuters.
This year, the number of special trains has been significantly increased from 7,500 to 12,000 to accommodate the festival-goers heading to Bihar. Preparations are in full swing to ensure the efficient return of travelers once the festival ends, even as challenges are anticipated due to the narrow return window.
To support these efforts, holding areas at major terminals are near completion, and a centralised monitoring system at the Patliputra Rail Complex is set to enhance traffic management. Singh assured that additional security personnel will be on duty, and the railways are prepared to deploy extra trains as needed to manage unreserved passenger flow.
