India remains a world leader in renewable energy growth, adding between 15 to 25 gigawatts annually, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy reported. However, global challenges such as supply-chain issues and fluctuating module prices have slowed some project timelines.
The ministry highlighted that India is shifting from rapid expansion to enhancing system strength and stability, focusing on integrating renewable systems rather than merely increasing capacity. The nation aims to achieve 500 gigawatts of non-fossil energy by 2030, advancing towards a resilient energy architecture.
Efforts are underway to ensure grid integration, energy storage, and market reforms align with this ambitious target. Over 40 gigawatts of projects are in advanced stages of securing necessary agreements. The government's focus on transmission infrastructure, including significant monetary investments, underscores the scale of India's commitment to its renewable energy future.
